Technical Evening, January 2011

A somewhat damp evening in January; a good opportunity to meet indoors and reminisce about the rallying successes of the TRs in the 50's and 60's. We were joined by members from both East Saxons and the Abbott and Stour groups and more than 50 people squeezed into the area set aside for us at the Shepherd and Dog.

Ian Cornish, who has owned one of the works TR4's since 1969, gave an interesting and enjoyable presentation with photographs and facts about the Standard Triumph (and later BMC) works teams, the various rally's they entered and how they fared.

An excellent 'pit stop' was arranged half way through with a buffet provided by the pub. There were opportunities here and at the end to ask Ian questions and I think everybody learnt a bit more about the history of the cars we love.
