Hylands House, June 2010

The TR Register, East Saxons and the Abbot and Stour group joined us for a classic car day at Hylands House in Chelmsford. The day started cold and overcast but the sun eventually broke through and we had an enjoyable day with fellow enthusiasts.

Early on a cold Sunday morning a convoy of 13 cars set off from Margaretting for the short run to Hylands House.

The TR Register had set up their marquee and other members of the group had already arrived and were organising the parking.

Fortunately the sun eventually broke through and we had a warm end to the day....

A contingent from the East Saxons Group joined the display.....

...along with members of the Abbot and Stour group.

All together we had around 40 cars on display covering most marques. Taking pride of place the well known "4 VC" rally prepared TR4...

...A TR2....

...the "Coca Cola" TR7 featured last year on the front of TR Action...

.. and a beautifully prepared Peerless.

It was Fathers Day, and Terry proudly displayed the card he had received from his family in Australia...

Hylands House itself was originally a Queen Anne House, but underwent major changes in the 19th century. After falling into disrepair in the early part of the last century it was taken over and restored by Chelmsford Council. The House was open to the public to see a record of the restoration.

As well as the house there are extensive grounds including the "Pleasure Gardens".

As with all our events the inevitable picnics and social catch up....

.. and of course the team photo!
