The Group History

The Essex Group of the TR Register was formed in 1973 and over the years has been one of the most active groups within the TR Register. We particularly pride ourselves in having a high percentage of sidescreen car owners among our members, although all new members are welcome whatever the car or its condition.

We pride ourselves in being able to offer something to all types of TR owners, whatever their particular interest. We also welcome people who have an interest in the TR range even if they don't own a car themselves.

Many of the original members are still with the group and are even driving the same cars! Terry Blake, our life president, was one of the original members and is rummaging through his archives (!) to provide more information about the history of the group.

Over the years the group has had various meeting places across Essex including the Alma Arms near Colchester, the White Bear at Stanford Rivers, and the Cuckoo near Chelmsford. We now meet at the Rabbits at Stapleford Abbots and the White Horse at Ramsden Heath. There are around 70 members in the group and between them they own nearly 80 TRs.
