Drive it day at Hylands Park

This coming Sunday (26th) the Group is supporting the FBHVC “Drive it Day” initiative to get classic cars out and about on the roads of Britain. We will be rendezvousing at “The Old Windmill” between 09.45 and 10.00hrs prior to a short run to Hylands House where we will join other classic car groups for the day (until 16.00hrs). Picnic lunches are advised although there will be snacks and rat burgers et al available on site! If you fancy winding up the day with a Sunday Buffet meal at The Royal Tiger, speak to me at the show.

AGM Tuesday 28th

Our regular Tuesday meeting (28th) at “The Old Windmill” will be given over to the Group’s A.G.M. – I can hear you yawning from here!! This should be a swift affair as I have had no notice of Motions or other contentious issues that could protract proceedings past 21.000hrs when the finger buffet will be served. I know it can be a bit of a bore but please make every effort to attend and support your Committee – whoever they may be in the future!

Standard Triumph Marque day - 24th May

The Committee has decided to support Standard Triumph Marque Day at the ever-popular Duxford Aerodrome on Sunday 24th May. (See page 14 of TR Action #234). This means that the planned visit to Tilbury Fort will be postponed until later in the year – probably early October. There will be two RVs for Duxford; one at Birchanger Services on the M11 at Stansted, the other at “The Old Windmill”. Those of you who fancy a Sunday morning cruise through the Essex and Cambridgeshire countryside should be ready to leave TOW at 09.00 hrs or 10.00hrs from Birchanger if a thrash up the motorway is your preference. Danbury Garden Fete - 14th June

The date for the Danbury Garden Fete (organised by our own Peter Jones) is the 14th June – not 6th June as shown in the Events Calendar. This now clashes with the Weald Park show and the Committee has decided to withdraw from the latter in order to support Peter. Members preferring the Weald Park bash should contact Steve Tant (Events Co-ordinator) for pitch details.

BBQ with Porsche Owners Club - 14th July

Don’t forget to add to your Calendar the evening BBQ with the Porche Owners’ Club at Regiment Way Golf Centre in Chelmsford on Tuesday 14th July.

And, finally, a warm welcome to two friends of Dave Tozer – Brian Dadd and Hugh Farish. Brian runs a TR5 and Hugh a TR8 – hoping to see you and your cars at Hylands House on Sunday.
