Welcome to new members Vic and Mary!I would like to kick-off this fiftieth issue of “Secretary’s Bulletin” with a warm welcome to Vic and Mary Hardy who came along to our last Windmill meeting, liked what they saw and joined the Group! Vic and Mary live in Westcliff so I hope to see plenty of them (and their TR4) at our monthly meetings in South Hanningfield.Don't forget Race Night - 15th NovemberPreparations are well under way for the next event on our list - Race Night on Saturday 15th November at the Little Warley & Childerditch Village Hall. For those of you attending this very popular family event, don’t forget to bring your own nibbles and drinks and plenty of change for the Tote! For those of you who use TomTom (other navigators are available!) the postcode is CM13 3DZ. The hall is next to “The Greyhound” pub in Little Warley and racing starts at 19.30hrs.Ladies Pamper Day - 29th NovemberChristine Dimbleby tells me she has four places left for the Ladies’ Pamper Day at Stoke-by-Nayland on Saturday the 29th November. O.K. guys, it may cost you £70 to treat your ladies to this day of unbridled sybaritism (early Christmas present, perhaps?) but just think of the Brownie Points you will earn! Give Chris a ring on 01245 492416 for full details, travelling arrangements etc.TR Register AGM at GaydonThe TR Register’s AGM is to be held at Gaydon on Sunday 23rd of this month. The Essex Group will be represented by Terry B, Andy D and myself. Contrary to popular belief, the Register AGMs are not at all boring and the lunch time stroll around the Motor Heritage Museum is worth the effort of attending! All paid up members are entitled to attend so, if you fancy a day out supporting the Register, contact Andy.Last chance to book your place at the Christmas dinnerThis is the last opportunity to reserve your place(s) for the Christmas Dinner Dance. This is on Saturday 13th December at the usual venue – Stapleford Abbotts Golf Club. This event is excellent value for money at £35 per head including wine on the table and the disco, and friends and relatives are welcome. Terry Blake now has the menu and is ready and waiting to take late bookings. You can reach Terry on 01708 768508.Next years Events diaryEvents Co-ordinator, Steve Tant, is in the throws of producing next year’s Events Calendar but is having some difficulty in obtaining firm dates from the organisers of some of the shows in which we are interested. Steve hopes to have this sorted in the next two to three weeks, so the Events Calendar should be with you before Christmas. We are now into the “quiet season” for TRing and, to relieve the winter boredom, the Committee will be arranging another “Historic Video” evening and a “Technical Talk”. These events are programmed for January and February respectively and will be held at the Windmill on our regular meeting evenings. The CalendarWhilst on the subject of calendars – “the new look” Essex Group Calendar is currently with the printers and (with any luck) should be available at our next Windmill meeting on the 25th November.Items for saleIf you have any items/cars for sale (or wanted) e-mail the details to Mike Boling and he will include them in the next available Bulletin. If you don’t have access to the net, a written note will do. |
