Go Karting

The Go Kart Racing on Saturday the 24th March was very well attended with 23 drivers and around 12 guests all tipping up at the Braintree track. A smashing time was had by all with plenty of thrills and the occasional crash! The evening’s honours were won by the Team Billericay consisting of Mike and Andy J, Graham Stewart, Phill L and Mark Butcher – not surprising considering the track experience of Phill, Graham and Mike! The individual award for best driver went to Rob Welch who showed everybody how it should be done!

Group AGM Meeting

Tuesday 27th March saw a good turn out at The White Horse, Downham, for the Group’s A.G.M. The Meeting was chaired by Eastern Region Co-ordinator, John Andrews and the evening’s business went very smoothly with no surprises or upsets. The Meeting agreed that the Committee Post of Member w/o Portfolio should be replaced by that of Membership Secretary and, with the exception of Graham Seeley who stepped down, the existing Committee was returned unopposed. The role of Events Co-ordinator has been filled by Steve Tant who recklessly volunteered to take over from Graham who has completed three years in the position. The last ten minutes or so of the Meeting, flashed by as a hot buffet was being served at the back of the room. The overall feedback was that this venue was ideal and the provision of an after Meeting buffet was spot on. Thanks go to the management of The White Horse for providing such an excellent spread.

Book up for the Museum of Power

This coming Sunday (Easter Sunday 8th April) the Group will be attending the ever-popular “Old Tyme Rallye” at the Museum of Power at Langford (CM9 6QA) just outside Maldon. This is an excellent venue and if you haven’t attended in the past, do make the effort to come along this year – I am sure you will enjoy the day and its attractions. We will be meeting in the car park of The White Horse (CM11 1NA) at 08.30hrs for departure at 09.00hrs. We will then have a short (30 mins) run through the lanes from Downham to Langford. Andy D has the tickets for this event and will distribute them as you arrive at The White Horse.

Secret Bunker meeting with North London Group

An “extra” to our published events will take place on Easter Monday. Again, we will congregate in The White Horse car park, at around 10.00hrs for a 10.30hrs departure for the “Secret Bunker” at Kelvedon Hatch (CM15 0LA) where we will meet up with members of the North London Group. We will then have a joint convoy to The Plough Inn at Crews Hill, Enfield (EN2 9DJ) for a leisurely lunch. The Committee are anxious to promote inter-group activities and this seems a good way of building contacts.
