Update on Terry

I am very pleased to report that, after a minor setback involving another (short) stay in Hospital, Terry is back home and feeling stronger every day. If things continue to progress at the current rate, Terry is hopeful that he and Pat will be able to join us at The Rabbits, this month – fingers crossed!! Do please avoid telephoning Pat and Terry during mid afternoons - his afternoon kip is an essential part of the recovery plan.

AGM 14th March

The night of the 14th March saw a good turnout at our A.G.M. in the Blackmore Village Hall and many of us were delighted to see long term Essex Group members, John and Christine Saxton, in attendance. Due to ill health, Christine has been unable to attend recent Essex Group gatherings so it was particularly good to see her on this occasion. The “old” Committee was re-appointed, unopposed and the business of the evening went very smoothly. Points of particular interest were the announcement that the TR Register Management Committee had given us the green light on our proposed Essex Group Constitution. They did ask for a few amendments and a bit of re-wording, but we (your Committee) did not feel that these alterations would be a problem. We are anticipating being able to move to the next (consultation) stage of the adoption, after our next Committee Meeting on the 10th April.

Steve Tant gave a short presentation on the subject of ESSEX DAY. (2nd July at Ingatestone Hall). Steve had been co-opted by the Committee to act as Project Manager for the event and, particularly in view of Terry’s absence, the Committee is most grateful for his input and energy. He gave a brief outline of what is planned and warned everyone that a lot of helpers would be required on the day! We are hopeful that ESSEX DAY will, in part, make up for the cancellation of the Eastern Groups’ Gathering at Duxford. This very popular event will not be held this year due, in part, to a change of management at the IWM Duxford who, apparently, is not particularly “car friendly”.

International cuisine at the White Horse!

“The White Horse” at Ramsden Heath (our regular 4th Tuesday venue) continues to be very popular with members and more and more arrive early to sample the excellent scoff. Chicken enchiladas are the current favourite with the Cajun chicken a close second! Why not come along on Tuesday the 25th and see for yourself?

Keep using the website

Our website just gets better and better, thanks to the sterling efforts of Webmaster Paul S. Do have a squint at www.essex-tr.org and remember all your Committee Members are now accessible through the site.

Latest events

Events Co-ordinator, Graham tells me that we now only have 1 twin room available for the TR Weekend Away on the 26th/28th May. We will be visiting the Ironbridge Industrial & Heritage Museum complex including the Victorian Village with working forge, boat building, shops, steam engines etc. etc. and, ladies, there is masses to interest the fairer sex as well – it is not just a weekend for the blokes!!

Graham has advised me of a couple of “extra” events. Firstly, the M.G.C.C. is holding an “activity day” at North Weald aerodrome on Friday 21st April – TRs welcome.

Secondly, on Sunday the 16th July, Graham (and others) will be competing at Brands in the M.G.C.C. Total Butler Championship. Anybody who fancies a convoy to Brands to watch this and many other races (including the Moss Europe T.R. Register race) should contact Graham at events@essex-tr.org or on 01621 842020.
